SWR Meter Limitations
Cable loss attenuates the reflected wave on its way back to your radio.
Lossier cable makes the SWR reading look better — but the power
never reached the antenna.
Example: 70Ω feedpoint, 14.175 MHz, 50 ft of cable
RG-58 (50Ω)
SWR at radio: 1.33:1
Power delivered: 89.9%
RG-6 (75Ω)
SWR at radio: 1.52:1
Power delivered: 92.4%
Which cable is actually performing better?
The one with the "worse" SWR reading is delivering more power to the antenna.
